"Embracing Traditions: New Year Celebration at Serkhang - Welcoming the Wood Snake Year"
You are warmly invited to join our New Year celebration at our Golden house, called Serkhang, at the Nalandra Buddhist Institute in the beautifully set Yarra Valley, Healesville, Melbourne. This unique event will embrace the Buddhist calendar's ceremonial traditions, marking the beginning of the Wood Snake or Serpent Year.
Our celebration will be traditionally enriched with the offering of sweet rice and Tibetan butter tea to the shrine and all our guests, honouring the presence of holy spirits. This occasion marks the start of Buddha's miraculous activities, spanning the next fifteen days, during which early religious practitioners sought to calm and subdue with the goal of harmonizing and eliminating animal sacrifices associated with harmful doctrines.
This year, we are honoured to have a special guest from the Mahayana Buddhist community, who will join us in chanting. The Wood Snake Year is an auspicious time for spiritual and personal growth, encouraging self-discovery. The 2025 element, wood, enhances the Snake's traits, bringing about greater versatility, growth, and creativity.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special event.
